Straight from the Heart ...

As I've aged, I've become kinder, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play, on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon?

I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50, 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will.

I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old. I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.

And, I eventually remember the important things. Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken.

How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?

But, broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.

So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. As you get older, it is easier to be positive.

You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.

Embrace Change - it's the Only Constant!

Embrace Change -- Grow With the Flow...
Are You Getting Better -- Or Just Getting Older?
Learning can take many forms: classroom study, reading, travel, life experiences or collaboration with others. When you pay attention, there's always an opportunity to learn.

Who is Anna Hazare ???

Anna Hazare is an ex-army jawan who fought in the 1965 Indo-Pak War, and is the only survivor of his Unit that was wiped-out in one of those encounters!

He has built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahmed Nagar district, Maharashtra - this village is a self-sustained model wherein energy, for consumption, is produced in the village itself from solar power, bio-fuel and wind mills. In 1975, it used to be a poverty-stricken village. Today it is one of the richest village in India - making it a self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village model!

Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities. Today, he has taken up the cause of Amendment of a law that seeks to curb corruption in India!

He is advocating for a Bill, The Jan Lokpal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), bureaucrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit their corrupt needs!

The first thing he is asking for is: The government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed, after which a Joint Committee is got together to DRAFT the JAN LOKPAL BILL. 50% government participation and 50% public participation.

When the Bill becomes Law a LokPal will be appointed at the centre - this individual will have autonomous charge (similar to the Election Commission of India). In each State a Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged corruption-charges to trial within 1 year.

The guilty would be punished and justice served within two (2) years - unlike scams such as Bofors, Bhopal Gas and many more that are still under litigation for more than 25 years!

Anna Hazare is not alone in this cause! Baba Ramdev, Ex. IPS Kiran Bedi, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and many more are actively involved. Prominent personalities like Aamir Khan (film-actor) is supporting his cause.

What can we do?

Would You Agree???

I believe that we were all sent here for a reason
and that we all have significance in the world.

I genuinely feel that we are all blessed with unique gifts. The expression of our gifts contributes to a cause greater than ourselves.

Would you agree?

Feel Good >>>

Do you feel good, AT LEAST once or twice a day!?!

Acknowledge and preferably write it down!

We are often good at blaming ourselves and others for not living up to our expectations of perfection! And, we focus on weaknesses
- ours and others. We expend energies on the negative - when we look for things to be grateful about, we elevate our thoughts
and expectations to generate more of the same.

One way to magnify our strengths (as well as those of others) is to acknowledge ourselves (and others) for at least one thing done well daily.

Let us train ourselves to look for what may be missing, that if put into place, would bring about results we desire.

(WoW [words of wisdom] ... now to put it into PRACTICE!)

Goals ...

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must
fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other
route to success. Stephen A. Brennan

The tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies
in having no goals to reach. Benjamin Mays

Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set

You must have long term goals to keep you from being frustrated by short
term failures. Charles C. Noble

Man is a goal seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching
out and striving for his goals. Aristotle

You Will Never Grow Old ... While ...

I  would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful  life, my loving family for less grey hair or a flatter belly.  As  I've aged, I've become  kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own  friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not  making my bed, or for buying that silly  cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my  patio.  I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I  have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon;  before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
